It’s Time

Over the past 82 weeks or so, I have had the privilege of sitting down each Monday morning and writing my Saturday column. I have written about the lessons I have learned over the years that have helped me and my family properly manage our money. 

In the beginning, I sat down and wrote what was top of mind as I thought about my own personal financial journey. I told stories about Lauren and I and the dumb mistakes we (mostly me) had made as well as the times when we learned and figured out how to grow financially.  

Over time, I began to realize that there was actually a fairly defined path that we had walked down. We had learned how to move from living paycheck to paycheck towards being generous and funding the life of our dreams. So instead of just writing from the top of my head, I decided to put some thought into a structure that others could follow that was based on personal experience and proven results. 

That framework became known as Increase and I began to define the process as filling up your financial tank in 8 systematic steps. Over the past year and a half, I have begun to teach this philosophy to my team at Trumble and have seen the amazing results of individuals moving from one step to the next as they increased their financial IQ. 

Over the past several years, I have heard from many of you who read each week faithfully. Some of you have clipped out the articles and sent them to friends and family. Others have shared how you started funding your New Zero and now have a cushion you never had before. Others still have shared how they began giving generously and how that has changed their perspective on money. 

This week is the last week I will be writing this column before launching the compilation of the past two years of writing. 

On August 1st, next Saturday, I will be launching my new book, Increase: An 8 Step Financial Path to Fuel the Life of Your Dreams. I wrote this book to be a resource you can reference again and again as you ask, “What is the next step I should take to increase where I’m at financially?” 

But I also wrote this book so that anyone (even your spouse!) will read it and enjoy the content. Believe it or not, my wife even read the book and thought it was entertaining and she wants nothing to do with finances!
